NZ Organic Wine Awards 2019 results are out, and we are excited to announce Surveyor Thomson 2015 pinot noir from Domaine Thomson has won the Riedel 'Wine of the Show' and Champion pinot noir.

A superb achievement rewarding the hard work and dedication of the entire Domaine-Thomson team in crafting great pinot noir in Otago, and in Burgundy.

The judges commented: "A bold, powerful Otago Pinot Noir, complex on the nose and the palate, ripe stonefruit, spice and toasty oak. Beautiful now but will further develop over the next 6-7 years. A wine that impressed all judge's as the standout wine for 2019."

Surveyor Thomson Wines was established in 1999 by Thomson's great-great grandson, David Hall-Jones. David and his wife, PM, planted 14 has of Pinot Noir at their property above the Lowburn valley on the gently sloping glacial terraces.
Their aspiration is to create a unique single vineyard pinot noir of elegance and finesse reflecting its exceptional Central Otago site and its distinctive seasonal influences. They are committed to high quality vineyard planting, viticulture and winemaking to consistently produce superior pinot noir.

They entered the New Zealand Organic Wine Awards, which is an independent wine show dedicated to finding and promoting New Zealand’s best organic wines. The New Zealand Organic Wine Awards is New Zealand’s only dedicated wine show for organic wines. Their goal is to increase the market share of New Zealand’s organic wines domestically and internationally.
