New tastes of Burgundy

Date: 31-10-2018

With the recent introduction of four new wines in the Maison Vauron cellar, a staff wine training was on the cards. So Arielle’s (from Compagnie de Burgondie) visit was definitely a welcomed one.

Compagnie de Burgondie is a union of cooperatives that unites around a common project: to become ambassadors of the wines of Burgundy with an emphasis on sustainability and terroir. They are a key wine operator in Burgundy, consisting of hundreds of winemakers and 40 appellations.

We tasted these four white wines and our thoughts on these were nothing but great!

Vignerons de Buxy Montagny 1er Cru “Les Coères” 2015

Fruity aromas that harmonise with mineral notes. Very round and powerful on the palate. We would recommend this with seafood!

Vignerons de Buxy Côteaux Bourguignons Blanc 2017

From the Côte Chalonnaise, its mineral soil gives a whole lot of freshness and liveliness. Ideal with a summer salad.

Cave de Viré Mâcon Villages "Vieilles Vignes" 2016

Floral and peach fruit on the nose. Smooth and aromatic complexity with a crisp finish. A delicious match with a grilled fish.

Cave de Viré Viré-Clessé 2016

A buttery, heavily-structured wine and a great pairing to a crispy skin pork belly.
