In 1975, in the heart of Normandy in France, the Condé sur Sarthe’s cheese factory manager, Jean Verrier, gave birth to the first Camembert Le Rustique. Normandy is the home of Camembert. It is made from cow’s milk, and cows that produced the milk for this particular cheese are allowed to graze freely on the lush green pastures of Normandy. This gives Le Rustique its authentic flavour. To ensure optimum ripening, it is stored in its wooden, signed box, which has now become a symbol of the brand, as has the red and white chequered cloth.

Today, one of France's favourite Camemberts, Le Rustique unveils a pleasant, tangy fragrance, a creamy, supple texture and a subtle but distinctive authentic flavour that is a sheer delight to the senses. As well as a good way of finishing a meal, it also lends itself to the preparation of tasty hot dishes and it pairs well with a white Burgundy or a red Bordeaux wine.
