Description

Brie de Meaux Dongé, made by a small family business, based in the Meuse since 1930, is the symbol of elitism and ‘habitual’ gold medal winner at the Concours Général Agricole in Paris (food and wine competition organised by the Ministry of agriculture and fishing).

Brie de Meaux, named after the town of Meaux, is a French cheese produced in the region of Brie, located 50 kilometres to the east of Paris. Awarded ‘The King of Cheese’ in 1814 by Talleyrand, the renowned French politician, Brie is a big round cheese with a velvety bloomy rind, and some brownish spots on the top and bottom, meaning it's ripe and ready to eat. Its soft, straw coloured, creamy paste delivers a great combination of hazelnut and fruit yeasty flavours, and a delicious hint of mushrooms.

The cheese pairs perfectly with Champagne, red Bordeaux, Beaujolais or Pinot Noir from Bourgogne.
