Lascaux

One of the named Crus of the Coteaux du Languedoc Appellation, Pic St. Loup is definitely promising with some wines already reaching cult status. Pic St. Loup includes 12 communes surrounding the peak of the same name, 30 km north of Montpellier.

The soil is made up of clayey and chalky stones and the vineyards are small parcels surrounded by scrubland. All these factors contribute to the complexity of aromas: laurel, spices, mint, cinnamon, liquorice, vanilla… Syrah, Grenache and Mourvedre must make up a minimum of 90% of the wines here with yields not exceeding 50 hl/ha.
