There is probably no hotter domaine in Burgundy today than Sylvain Cathiard. Established by Sylvain Cathiard’s grandfather in the 1930s in the village of Vosne-Romanee, Sylvain took over the family domaine in 1995 and it is now the turn of the next generation with his son Sebastien.
After stints overseas - including New Zealand - Sebastien has brought a fresh perspective. Today, the domaine spreads over 5.5 hectares of vines, with the majority of the holdings in Vosne-Romanee and very small parcels in Clos de Vougeot and Romanee-St-Vivant.
Things are not complicated here but there is a meticulous attention to detail only seen at the very best. It is all made naturally here with a definite hands-off approach. Cathiard and son prefer to do nothing rather than interfere with the natural development of the wines.
