Ch Lafite Rothschild

Chateau Lafite Rothschild is perhaps the most famous wine label in the world and one of the most renowned wine properties in the Medoc. The vineyards are found at the northern tip of the Pauillac appellation, just below the boundary with St. Estephe. The estate achieved wide popularity in the 1750s when it became the favorite wine of King Louis XV. Thomas Jefferson was also a steadfast customer and even visited the estate.

Baron James de Rothschild purchased Chateau Lafite in 1868 and has remained under Rothschild family ownership since. Through the years, Chateau Lafite sustained natural disasters, wars and crises. Baron Eric de Rothschild currently manages the estate and Rothschild properties around the world.

The estate encompasses 180 hectares, 105 hectares being vineyards planted to Cabernet Sauvignon (71%), Merlot (25%), Cabernet Franc (3%) and Petit Verdot (1%).
