Ch Sigalas Rabaud
This estate was founded by the Rabaud family in 1660, before it was purchased by Henri Drouilhet Sigalas in 1863 and renamed Sigalas Rabaud. Although the estate has undergone various vineyard changes, and passed through periods of leasing to other companies and families, it remains in the Sigalas family and is currently managed by the sixth generation, Laure de Lambert Compeyrot.
Sigalas Rabaud is a classified First Growth, located in the appellation of Sauternes. It’s the smallest first growth with a plot of 14 hectares located within 500 meters of Chateau d’Yquem. The locals all know that Chateau Sigalas Rabaud vineyard is one of the best in the commune, but it has kept a surprisingly low profile, partly because the wines take time to show their quality.
The wine tends to be a blend of 85% Semillon and 15% Sauvignon blanc and it can be enjoyed for between five and 25 years.
