Denis Bachelet
The ebullient Denis Bachelet runs this tiny, 4 ha family domaine in Gevrey-Chambertin towards the northern end of the Cotes de Nuits. From the very beginning, he crafts concentrated, harmonious, pure, individualistic wines. All the wines are made from old, low-yielding vines and follow organic principles.
The small quantities of expertly crafted wines produced here are almost disproportionate to the magnitude of Denis Bachelet’s fame. Since 2009 Denis has been joined by his only son Nicolas. This is a domain, perhaps short of hectares, but certainly not of class or commitment from its hugely dedicated and thoughtful owner.
