Ch Leoville Barton

The Barton family, the current owners of Chateau Langoa Barton are able to trace their Bordeaux roots all the way back to 1722. That was the year Thomas Barton left Ireland and made his way over to Bordeaux. Like many successful owners, Thomas Barton started out as a negociant. Establishing a negociant business in 1745, the family purchased their first vineyard, Ch. Le Boscq in the same year, followed by Langoa-Barton in 1821. They then expanded their holdings by purchasing some vineyards from the great Léoville-Las Cases, naming this new property Léoville-Barton. Since no winery came with the purchase, the wines of Léoville-Barton have been made at Langoa-Barton since then. To this day, the picture of the chateau on the label of Léoville-Barton is actually of Langoa Barton
